Bhoopen is a solicitor who initially joined Appleman Legal in 2015 as part of his work experience in 2015 whilst he was completing his degree. Bhoopen joined the Mental Health department in 2016 as a paralegal and would advise, assist and represent clients who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended).
As a Solicitor, Bhoopen is given the responsibility to meet clients to obtain their instructions on their medical records and reports to be able to effectively represent them at their First-Tier Tribunal (Mental Health). As part of preparing the clients’ cases, Bhoopen would also attend Care Program Approach and s117 meetings to gain a better understanding of his client's cases and address any aftercare and treatment issues.

Bhoopen believes that written and analytical skills are not only a part of academic excellence but are also the building blocks of critical thinking and deductive reasoning which enables him to provide an exceptional service to his clients.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Bhoopen worked as a Health Care Assistant in a psychiatric setting for the South Essex Partnership Trust (“SEPT”). During his time working for SEPT, he obtained practical understanding of the Mental Health Care System in the NHS.

Having completed his seat in the Mental Health Department, he started his Family and Child Care seat. He advises on divorce, injunctions and private and public children matters. Bhoopen understands the vicissitudes of the human condition as well as the complexity when there are children involved. Bhoopen listens to his clients’ needs and provides tailored advice to all of his clients.
