Areas of Practice

Aklema has extensive experience in assisting clients subject to the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) including preparing for, advising and representing clients at CPA meetings, Hospital Managers Hearings and the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health). She became a member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Accreditation Scheme in 2012. She has a particular interest in representing clients who have a forensic history and has represented patients subject to all sections of the Act from high secure hospitals to the community.  
She joined Appleman Legal in March 2023 in recognising our focus and commitment to representing some of the most vulnerable clients in our society, under the constraints of Legal Aid, whilst maintaining the highest of standards which she feels they deserve.
