Hemlata Doorga

After successfully completing a work placement with the firm in September 2021, Hemlata has joined us on a full-time basis in January 2022 as a Paralegal in our Mental Health law department. She is based at our Head office in London. 
Hemlata takes an active part in all aspects of case preparation for First-tier Tribunals (Mental Health), Hospital Managers Hearings and Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings. Her responsibilities include perusal of documents, preparation of case bundles, drafting case correspondence and pleadings and attending to clients to obtain instructions and prepare witness statements.

Hemlata’s objective is to quality as a Solicitor specialising in Human Rights and Social Welfare law. She was attracted to Appleman Legal as she shares our commitment to these areas of practice. 

Hemlata is committed to delivering the best service to clients through a combined approach of empathy and pragmatism. 

She is currently working towards gaining sufficient experience to undertake the Law Society Mental Health Scheme accreditation.

Career

As a paralegal, Hemlata is given the responsibility to attend clients who are detained in psychiatric hospitals to obtain their instructions. Hemlata embraces the challenges mental health law brings and she has found her past experience of working as a mental health assistant manager quite helpful in her current role.

Education

She has successfully completed her LLB Law Degree from BPP Law School in 2016 and is currently enrolled in the SQE course.
