Kiran is one of the founding Partners of Appleman Legal and is the Firm's Principal Solicitor. She specialises in all Family and Childcare matters and Mental Health Law.

Family Law

Kiran is able to assist clients in obtaining various Child Arrangements Orders; Residence, Contact, Specific Issue Order, Prohibited Steps Orders. She is also able to assist parents in relation to obtaining Parental Responsibility and agreements in relation to the same.
In emergency cases, she has obtained Non-Molestation and other Domestic Violence Protection Orders for clients.
Where relationships have broken down, Kiran has assisted clients in obtaining a divorce. Following a divorce, she has assisted in financial orders both within the UK and overseas divorce.

Child Care Proceedings

Kiran has been instructed by parents in matters relating to child care proceedings initiated by the Local Authority. She has assisted parents in relation to voluntary placements, placing children with family and for children to return home in cases where they have been removed by the Local Authority.

Child Abduction

Kiran has assisted parents whose children have been unlawfully removed from England and Wales as well as clients from abroad where the children have been unlawfully brought to the UK. These proceedings are brought under the Hague Convention.

Mental Health Law

Kiran represents clients in relation to all aspects of the Mental Health Act 1983. She assists clients at First-Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) as well as Hospital Managers’ Hearings. Kiran assists clients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 who wish to be discharged, who seek assistance with treatment, care plans, aftercare and transfers. Kiran has also sat as a Hospital Manager for the West London Mental Health Trust.
