Shazia is a solicitor in the Mental Health Law department and specialises in representing clients at First Tier Tribunal Hearings and matters concerning patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act.
Shazia provides advice, assistance and representation for clients who are detained in both England and Wales and is committed to this area of law and to protecting and guarding the individual rights and liberties of those being detained.
Shazia trained and qualified in 2009 with one of the largest legal aid providers in the U.K (Legal 500 firm). Upon qualification, Shazia specialised in mental health law and was responsible for setting up and managing a successful mental health department in North London, before joining Appleman Legal as a solicitor in 2014.

Experience
Shazia became a member of the Law Society Mental Health Panel and represents client’s before Mental Health Tribunals. Membership to this organisation shows that a practitioner has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to advise, assist and represent clients who have been detained under the Mental Health Act and only those solicitors who meet the Law Society exacting accreditation requirements are permitted to join the panel.
Shazia is a dedicated professional who prides herself on dealing with her clients personally and providing a high level of service.
She is also experienced in providing legal advice and assistance to clients under the Mental Capacity Act, the Care Act 2014 and in divorce matters. Shazia is dual qualified and has a background in medical and surgical nursing before her transition to law.
